An evening conversation on FREESPACE, the theme of the Biennale Architettura 2018, jointly organized by Het Nieuwe Instituut and Creative Industries Fund NL. With presentations by the curators of national contributions, as well as the teams selected through the Open Call Architecture Biennale Venice #2 and #3, organized by Creative Industries Fund NL.

The notion of freespace has been presented at the Biennale in a broad palette of sensory experiences throughout both the Arsenale and the Giardini. The conversation will focus particularly on how freespace allows architecture to find a material expression for addressing societal challenges.

Jeffrey Bolhuis, co-founder of AP+E and co-curator of Free Market, the Irish pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2018.

Michelle Provoost (Crimson Architectural Historians) about a A City of Comings and Goings, a contribution to the Central Pavilion.

Marina Otero Verzier, Director of Research at Het Nieuwe Instituut and curator of WORK, BODY, LEISURE, the Dutch pavilion.

Kerem Piker, curator and Yağız Söylev, associate curator of Vardiya (the Shift), The Pavilion of Turkey.

Traumnovelle and Roxane Le Grelle, curatorial team of Eurotopie, the Belgian pavilion.

Maria Luisa Calabrese and Lukáš Timulak of the Make Move Think Foundation will present and screen the short film of the dance performance Cosmogonia Mundi. Watch the trailer

The evening will be moderated by Lara Schrijver, Professor in Architecture at the University of Antwerp.
